Stop by any Tuesday during the month of March and April 2011 with this flyer to Cabrera’s and they will donate 30% of the entire bill (regular priced items) to The Friends of the Duarte Library. It’s a tasty way to help promote literacy, love of reading and lifelong learning in our community.

Friends of the Duarte Library member Mirna De Lira Lopez and acting president Pat De Rose pose with Ken Kramer, volunteer programs director for the Los Angeles Public Library. Kramer attended a recent Friends of the Duarte Library meeting to congratulate the Friends on our new website. He was so Impressed that he has asked for the Friends of the Duarte Library to make a presentation on how to develop a website at the upcoming annual L.A. County Friends Exchange meeting at the Green Hotel on April 9. MIrna De Lira Lopez will make the presentation.
The Friends of the Duarte Library recently received a $1,000 Matching Grant from the County Library Foundation. The matching grant is designed to stimulate creativity and innovative program, services and fundraising events by Friends groups. An essential requirement is that funds be used for library services, books and/or programs approved by the County Library. The Friends of the Duarte Library received the grant to help cover cost of the 9th Annual Festival of Authors coming on October 3, 2011.
