How your support helps our Duarte Library
The Friends of the Duarte Library promote community support for the library and provide funds to supplement the purchase of books and publications.
Funds also support special library programs and the Summer Reading programs for children and teens.
The Friends of the Duarte Library also promote books and reading with its signature annual event, the Duarte Festival of Authors.

In 2010, the Friends of the Duarte Library:
- Received the Adult Literacy Partnership Award from the International Reading Association for significant contribution in developing adult literacy 2010.
- Received $1,000 matching grant from the County Library Foundation for 2010 Festival of Authors.
- Was honored by the Duarte City Council for the outstanding 2010 Festival of Authors.
- Purchased over $7,000 of new books for the Duarte Library.
- Funded weekly Teen Program needs.
- Updated the rental DVDs monthly.
- Partially funded and assisted the Summer Reading Program at the library.
- Funded $1,500 for two scholarships: to a recipient of each of the Duarte high schools.
- Partnered at Casino Night, a community event and fundraiser.
- Supported community events with our presence and fundraising at the Summer Concerts in the Park, the Route 66 Parade, and the City Picnic.
